She earned her Ph.D. from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln after training in chemical biology and biocatalysis in Prof. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https%3A%2F%2Fchem.unl.edu%2Fjiantao-guo&amp;sa=D&amp;sntz=1&amp;usg=AOvVaw2zWMjqjGpd07B6nLS0A2Ia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jiantao Guo<\/a>&#8216;s lab. She then transitioned to the University of Kentucky (UK) to study enediyne biosynthesis as a joint postdoc with professors <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https%3A%2F%2Fpharmacy.uky.edu%2Fpeople%2Fsteven-van-lanen&amp;sa=D&amp;sntz=1&amp;usg=AOvVaw1ky54Az3ywyB3FSRSiWmt2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Steven Van Lanen<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https%3A%2F%2Fpharmacy.uky.edu%2Fpeople%2Fjon-thorson&amp;sa=D&amp;sntz=1&amp;usg=AOvVaw3f6mWni9YktNf8iOcHyaXJ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jon Thorson<\/a>. She subsequently joined <a href=\"https:\/\/pharmacy.uky.edu\/people\/joseph-chappell\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/pharmacy.uky.edu\/people\/joseph-chappell\">Dr. Joe Chappell&#8217;s<\/a> lab, where she collaborated with computational chemists in <a href=\"https:\/\/pharmacy.uky.edu\/people\/chang-guo-zhan\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/pharmacy.uky.edu\/people\/chang-guo-zhan\">Dr. Chang-Guo Zhan<\/a> group to engineer triterpene synthases and elucidate their mechanism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">During her postdoc tenure, Dr. Hankore worked as an Office of Technology and Commercialization (OTC) Fellow at UK, and served as a postdoc liaison to the Graduate Student Congress. She was also president of the Society of Postdoctoral Scholars (SOPS) from 2021-2022. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Her research interests include chemical biology, protein engineering, biocatalysis, bioorganic chemistry, and natural products.
